Fire is a film by Deepa Mehta that was one of the first mainstream films in India to explicitly show homosexual relations. Starring Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das, the film is about two characters, Radha and Sita, who are married and eventually fall in love with each other. Radha, the older woman, remains bound by tradition while Sita refuses to accept misfortune and wishes to break free. (via Wikipedia and imdb)
